Seeking Coordinator for Los Angeles Songsalive! Chapter
We are looking for a new Los Angeles Coordinator / Leader for Songsalive!, an international non profit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting songwriters and composers worldwide. The position calls for someone who is interested in being involved as a key leader in a nonprofit organization with over 20 chapters around the globe. We not only develop, support, and promote songwriters and composers but are also involved in philanthropic initaves the the local community.
As the Leader/Coordinator of the Los Angeles Songsalive Chapter you will manage the membership, programs, events, and team for the greater Los Angeles area. You will be the visible ambassador for Songsalive! You will represent us at local music industry conferences and events. You will heighten our presence in the community and will be charged with maintaining and growing a vibrant membership.
Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate the various Songsalive events and programs in the greater Los Angeles region - this includes the Los Angeles Workshop (North Hollywood), our two showcases (North Hollywood and West Hollywod), and the Orange County Workshop. Although there are individual coordinators for each of these programs they need oversight and guidance. Activities include the timely submission of press releases and monthly reports, and speaker confirmations and bios.
- Be responsible for the continued development of the Los Angeles Chapter team with volunteers who are dependable and positive people who are committed to our mission and vision. You would be the chapter leader with the team working with you on our current goals; communicate and coordinate and run regular team meetings;
- Develop a Los Angeles regional membership drive in coordination with the global managers of Songsalive to grow our membership base. This could range from special incentives and promotions to special local events and establishing booths and tables at local events.
- Ensure that the public web pages for the Los Angeles Chapter are up to date and active - this includes the LA Chapter MySpace page and Chapter page on the Songsalive.org site.
- Represent Songsalive in the greater Los Angeles community - this includes COSMO, local arts and music events, and music industry conferences at our exhibition booths
Candidates must
- Be able to commit at least 5 hours per week on a volunteer basis, mainly in your own time except when at our already scheduled events.
- Have a long term interest in being involved in our organization.
- Be a good team leader who understands community, and personal dynamics
- Be able to delegate and manage effectively
- Have a strong knowledge in the independent music scene in Los Angeles
- Teaching, non profit and/or promoter experience ideal but not essential
- Strong computer and internet skills required, with experience in social networking (Myspace, etc), discussion lists and mailing list management. Also suggested, some website design experience, though not essential.
- Great on time management and willingness to run consistent events and duties each month, every month.
- Preferably someone who isn't a songwriter, but who loves original music (though we will also consider a songwriter if you are a left brain thinker too).
- Be able to communicate with our members, chapter coordinators, and doing basic database tasks.
- You need to want to be part of a growing non-profit 501 c)3) organization,and that means thinking outside the box, nurturing our songwriter community, and leading and partcipating on committees.
- Be an awesome communicator, who can communicate with individuals, allied organizations, and with industry professionals. Good writing skills and the ability to write press releases and reports (based on our templates as guides).
- Be interested in a long term commitment.
- Strong promotional skills and/or the willingness to call media, and find new ways to promote our events online, street and in person.
- Interest in developing music industry awareness through networking, connections, and resources
- Be enthusiastic, energetic and willing to take on new projects. Be an ideas person with a vision for how to co-create with us on building our community
This is an ongoing part-time volunteer job, with, as well as opportunities to travel, get full Songsalive! membership benefits and a few cool things, such as attending music conferences for free.
