Femi Kuti’s new release Day by Day is out November 18.
The album is out on Downtown Records’ new imprint Mercer St. Records. This is first studio album from Femi in seven years, and it is worth the wait. The new release from reigning king of Afro-pop includes jazz, soul, and sounds reminiscent of the older Nigerian big bands. Playing with Femi is his amazing 17-piece band Positive Force.
Femi will head to the States with Positive Force in January to headline GlobalFest in NYC on November 11. Line-up to feature Calypso Rose, Chicha Libre, Hot 8 Brass Band, Kailash Kher’s Kailasa, L&O, La Troba Kung-fú, Marcio Local, Occidental Brothers Dance Band International, Shanbehzadeh Ensemble, Tanya Tagaq, Valkyrien Allstars, and Watcha Clan.
