Johnny Headband releases new album

“Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out” urges JOHNNY HEADBAND’s PHASE 3 opener, “Wastin Time.” This also happens to be the only basic motor function required in order for listeners to be instantly hooked on the band’s blend of electro-rock.

The Detroit-based four-piece is proud to announce that not only is their new EP available on iTunes now (and available for FREE download via the band’s website), but will also be available as a vinyl 7” with hand-made jackets designed by the band, limited to just 200 copies. The vinyl pre-order is available beginning October 1st through the band’s website, www.johnnyheadband.com

Johnny Headband will be selling the 7” at a handful of shows booked in October, which includes gigs in Washington, DC and Brooklyn, NY, wrapping with a hometown album release show on October 10th. Why so few tour dates? Other musical endeavors by Johnny Headband’s members restrict the group’s ability to tour, as Headband co-founder Keith Thompson (bass/guitar) will be on the road during the rest of the fall and winter playing bass with Detroit’s other favorite sons, Electric Six. Rounding out the group is Headband mastermind and brother Chad Thompson (vocals/electronics), RGS (drums) and PAN!C (guitar), also of the Pitchfork-approved band PAS/CAL.

Phase 3 (7” EP track listing)
Side A:
“Wastin Time”
Side B: “Fly Song” (Digital EP includes "Death of a Disco Beat")

The addition of RGS and PAN!C brings Johnny Headband into the band’s third phase (hence the album title), which has evolved since beginning in 2003 with the Thompson brothers.

“Chad and I wanted to take the dreamlike-living room-visions of our childhood, and combine it with our musical passion to lure the listener into the abstract world of Headband escapism. We wanted to integrate our songs with our live show, so we created music that lent itself well to performing" explains Keith Thompson.

"We have always pushed for a total sensory experience," adds brother Chad, "An assault."

Johnny Headband’s astounding stage presence and live show, which involves “a great deal of dancing and choreography,” is not to be missed, and left the Detroit Metro Times to comment “Johnny Headband leaves a physically drained yet emotionally rejuvenated audience in its wake.”

Concertgoers are forewarned: Shed your inhibitions, open your mind, and bring your dancing shoes… Johnny Headband is bringing the party.
