Shadow Shadow Shadeon tour in support of upcoming album

Formerly known as Afternoons, Shadow Shadow Shade have yet to release their debut effort but mentioning the band to someone that has seen them perform elicits the fervent type of reaction usually reserved for veterans with multiple classic albums to their name. This allegiance is a result of the group’s ability to knock audiences off their feet with both heartbreakingly fragile moments and transcendental climaxes. The seven members of SSS lace their compositions with unforgettable melodies and entrancing rhythms at every turn, resulting in songs that are arresting on the first listen.

Originally formed as an art project amongst friends, Shadow Shadow Shade steadily grew into the seven-piece behemoth that it is today. Synthesizing anthemic rock ‘n roll with the drama of a Wagnerian opera, scruffy Americana, and hints of psychedelia, the group was able to distill its large palette of influences into a truly unique and highly magnetic concoction.

Artist Shepard Fairy was among SSS’s early devotees. Upon hearing their demos, he was inspired to create a poster for the band, which ended up being plastered all over their hometown of Los Angeles. After playing just one show, the group was offered the coveted residency at Spaceland and subsequently sold out all four weeks. The septet has since garnered a reputation for being one of the best live bands in LA, which earned them a headlining spot at IFC’s SXSW showcase this past March.

Shortly after putting the finishing touches on their debut album, the band will showcase their simultaneously intimate and epic spectacle of a show as they kick off a west coast tour May 21st.
