AFRO FUNKE' & NEXTAID PRESENT World AIDS Day Fundraiser
NextAid is a dance music based nonprofit organization that harnesses the power of music tosupport sustainable development projects that serve vulnerable children, youth and women in Africa. Through music events and public education initiatives, NextAid provides empowering opportunitiesfor concerned individuals to make a difference. Proceeds from the 10+ World AIDS Day Eventswill support NextAid’s current projects in Africa, which include constructing an eco-friendlymicro-enterprise facility for a street youth project, education of orphaned children and youth in South Africa, and establishing critical maternal health programs for girls and women. born into the lovely environs of suburban lands lying to the east of los angeles, and raised on frozen food, meat and the religious right, eric tucker, aka wiseacre, currently finds himself happily free yetequally inspired by it all. living in the seaside republic of venice for 19 years, wiseacre initially established a successful career as a commercial/fine art photgrapher. in 2003, he decided to pick up some vinyl,a couple of turntables, a mixer, two speakers and a few friends in order to begin the labor of lovewe call “throwin’ parties”. since this time, wiseacre has put his love for photography on hold andco-created three very successful LA parties, FUNKY IN THE MIDDLE, CUSTOM SUNDAZE and now an underground affair theLIFT. he has hosted and played along side such talents as NICKODEMUS, LOUIE VEGA, OSUNLADE, BLACK COFFEE, MARK FARINA, ZEB, NAPPY G,MR. As 1 of NYC's top percussionists for years, specializes in layering Afro-Cuban,Haitian & Brazilianrhythms over loops.dj-selections & samples to create a modern blend of Ancient Roots with FutureDance sounds. Over the years he's toured/performed on a regular basis with Groove Collective,Turntables On The Hudson,Quantic y Su Combo Barbaro,Jody Watley,Dengue Fever,Madrid de Los Austrias,Jaffa,DJ VADIM, & many others. He has been a fixture on the NYC party & live event scene since the early 90's,and continues to excite & electrify crowds here & all over the world! Nappy G utilizes congas, bongos, timbales, shekere, cowbells, claves,djembe,kalimba & talkingdrum in his drumming.
