Art Center College of Design’s fifth annual Saturday High Fashion Show will be presented on Saturday, December 11, 2010, with one show at 6:00 p.m. and another at 8:00 p.m. at the college’s South Campus. This year, the show will feature over 40 pieces, designed by over 25 students and worn by dozens of models. A “behind the scenes, making of the show” video montage and celebratory post-party with musical acts, also are planned.
The 2010 fashion show highlights an open theme where the inspiration is self-expression. Students will push the boundaries of their creativity and exhibit everything from elegant, traditional outfits to gowns and cocktail dresses that veer on the space age. Beyond the innovative fashion elements, the show also highlights what can be accomplished through a pioneering arts education program and with community and family involvement. This is a rare event where attendees can see talented young artists, proud families, educators, all hanging out together.
Fashions designs for the show are created through Art Center’s groundbreaking Saturday High, which provides high school students with access to the institution’s exceptional instruction and facilities. The unique program has become a bastion of community involvement in Southern California and offers a rich curriculum to help students become better artists, designers and thinkers.
“We are thrilled to present the 5th installment of this remarkable fashion show,” noted Paula Goodman, Director of K-12 Programs at Art Center College of Design. “Our Saturday High students are brimming with talent, enthusiasm and ambition. And our fashion show is a wonderful way to showcase their hard work and recently acquired skills. For the community, for the fashion industry, for educators – this is a gala event that highlights the best parts of our culture as well as our future leaders in the arts,” she added.
Tickets to the fashion show are $10 per person. For more information about the Fashion Show, please email saturdayhigh@artcenter.edu.
