Downtown Abbey fashion exhibit in Pasadena in January

Pasadena Museum of History and Pasadena Public Library are celebrating the new season of Masterpiece Theater's Downton Abbey television series throughout the month of January by offering a glimpse into the fashions worn during the era.

Over thirty women's accessories from Pasadena  Museum of History's Costume and Textile Collection are on display in the North Entry, including hats, gloves, purses, and shoes.  Visitors can also view pages from Art Deco magazines and a book display in the Library’s main entrance hall that covers the historical events dramatized in the program’s first two seasons.

The displays will be on view throughout the month of January during the Library’s regular operating hours.  Pasadena Central Library is located at 285 East Walnut Street Pasadena, CA 91101; phone(626) 744-4066.

The PMH Costume and Textile Collection contains about 3,000 pieces of clothing or textiles dating from 1880 to 1970, with the majority of the collection dating from 1880 to 1920, and is available to the public by appointment only or when on display.  A new exhibition, I Do! I Do!  Pasadena Ties the Knot, featuring vintage wedding gowns from the Museum’s collection, opens on February 8.  For more information, please visit www.pasadenahistory.org.
