Act Rights and Heidi Happy to release albums on Tonequake Records

Tonequake Records (, an independent record label formed by noted producer, engineer and mixer Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele, U2) confirmed today that new records from both Austin band Act Rights and Swiss singer/songwriter Heidi Happy are confirmed for today and March 19 respectively. Both acts will be touring in support of their new records, performing at SXSW and in Heidi’s case, appearing at Canadian Music Week this March and NXNE in June. Australia’s hard rock band Twenty Two Hundred will also be dropping their debut album on Tonequake on February 19, 2013.
It’s no doubt that Heidi Happy (, Twenty Two Hundred ( and Act Rights ( could not be more divergent in musical terms. Yet it is this polar-opposite approach that is at the core of Tonequake’s manifesto.  Be it the unconventional pop strains and sophisticated arrangements of multi-instrumentalist Happy from On The Hills, to the more aggressive no holds barred Act Rights approach on Sweat Equity, each are being released (and in Act Rights case produced) by Scheps simply because they are great musicians.
“Too much good music doesn't see the light of day," said Tonequake Records Founder Andrew Scheps. “As the landscape of the music industry changes, I took the philosophy that Tonequake Records was created to be a new home for the next generation of great music. I’ve been luck enough to work with iconic and successful artists such as Metallica, Adele, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more. But nothing excites me like discovering great new music from undiscovered artists so that I can give them a platform to release their music, no matter what genre of music they make.”
Both bands will be hitting the road this shortly. Tour dates for Heidi Happy include
*3/12/13 @ SXSW Austin, TX
*3/19/13 @ Canadian Music Week, Toronto ON. CANADA
*6/12/13 @ NXNE, Toronto ON. CANADA
Additional tour dates to be announced shortly.
Act Rights recently returned from a tour of the East Coast, confirmed the following dates with more to be added:
*2/20/13 @ Emo’s, Austin, TX (w/ The Hives)
*3/13 @ SXSW, Austin, Tx.
If Tonequake Records philosophy of releasing great music from atypical new artists takes hold, it’s clear that we are in for some earthquake weather come spring.
Heidi Happy is a Swiss singer of international renown, a multi instrumentalist who has played shows and had radio airplay all over Europe, America and Japan. Her catchy yet unconventional pop music with sophisticated arrangements have been awarded many times over. Whether she plays solo, with her band or with an orchestra, her infectious stage presence has been bringing her a continuously growing fan base. As an in-demand duet partner, she has collaborated with world-famous acts such as Yello and Stephan Eicher. Her forthcoming album On The Hills unites all the good sides of her three previous records and presents Heidi Happy at the peak of her career as an artist.
You fight with your fists, you kiss with your lips, and you dance with your hips. For the past two years, Austin band the Act Rights have ardently created passionate and hectic rock and roll that makes you do all three. The quartet takes a simple approach to capturing everyone’s attention at a show: They grit their teeth and pull you into their world. If you leave empowered, scared, joyful, angry or wasted then they did their job. The new album Sweat Equity, produced by Andrew Scheps, captures the group's artistic prowess and no-holds-barred approach to music. It is the emanation of the band's efforts to move the listener. From the Austin dive-bar scene to showcasing at the 2012 SXSW Music Festival and touring the U.S., the sweat and conviction these guy play with will not leave you wanting.
Formed in Australia in 2010, Twenty Two Hundred quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting rock bands to emerge in years. Personally invited on tour by Slash in 2011, these guys delivered their classic groove heavy rock to audiences all over Singapore, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong, also sharing the stage with Coheed and Cambria and Stone Temple Pilots. In 2012, the band travelled to Los Angeles to complete their debut album Carnaval De VĂ©nus, rocking audiences at the Whisky A Go Go along the way. Twenty Two Hundred [Mark Wells (Ronnie Wood Band), Drew Alig, Marcus Kain and Tony Cardenas-Montana (Great White, Slash)] are a behemoth of riff driven, classic grooves, with songwriting and musicianship to match.
