King King Hollywood offers a range of entertainment events

King King Hollywood, located at 6555 Hollywood Boulevard, has announced its exciting schedule of performing arts events for January 2008.

Owner Mario Melendez designed the club to accommodate a wide range of high caliber performing arts programming featuring a movable bar, a transformable stage and an advanced sound and lighting system. King King always has an eclectic array of talent in the club and Angelenos love it.

Musically, Melendez’s club offers a state-of-the-art sound system comparable to any studio sound stage in Hollywood. A range of musical talents cross the stage each month and many house music, electronica/techno, Cuban jazz and alternative rock bands favor King King as a favorite venue when in town.

King King’s January music lineup:
Bazaar, featuring the high-energy house music sets of Moontribe’s DJ John Kelley, Treavor, Brian Seed, Brad and Mekka DJ Maven. (January 11th, $20 cover)

Incognito, hosted by DJs Mike Giannini, Erphun, DJ Ken and Franco Benito, brings techno to the club with a special all night event (January 18th , $10 before 11:00 pm, $15 for an all night pass).

A Night of Live Music- January ends on a high note with a performance by trombonist Brandon Turchiano at 9:00 pm, followed by Chloroform Days and the Italian musician and comedian Vinnie Santino.

The 4th Friday of every month belongs to Compression, the “raw and deep underground Techno” party. (Friday, January 25th at 9:00 pm, $20 cover.)

Descarga con Timba, named “The Best Tuesday Night Dance Club” in town by Los Angeles Magazine, is LA’s only Cuban-style jam session. The evenings kick off with free salsa lessons at 9:00 pm, followed at 10:00 pm by the exciting band Sono-Lux along with DJ Saoco ($12 before 10:00pm and $10 after).

Balance, the “Best Deep House Music,” returns every Saturday as the dance party of choice for underground scenesters ($10 cover before 11:00pm, $15 after).

The powerful and sensual L’effleur des Sens, featuring nine professionally trained dancers, resumes its bi-monthly Thursdays run at the King King tonight. There is nothing in Los Angeles like this French cabaret show that is diverse in form, music and mood. From intricate aerial acts to mixed media music and dance numbers to an audience participation sequence, dancer and renowned choreographer Cati Jean’s L’effleur has been a must see since its premiere two years ago.
Celebrities from Kate Hudson, Jessica Biel, Sasha Baron Cohen and Ana Ortiz to Topher Grace, Michael Vartan, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Rafael Saadiq, Solange Knowles and Andre Johnson marveled at the show in 2007. ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money star Zoe McLellan guest stars frequently. As L’effleur sells out most performances, advance ticketing is recommended. Available online for $26 for reserved seats and $10 for general admission, last minute fans may also get lucky at the door for $15. www.myspace.com/leffleurdessens.
