Most people have never seen a Theremin in person, but chances are you've heard one in TV shows or movies of the science fiction genre, and you didn't even know what is was. An electronic musical instrument invented in 1920 by Russian Professor Leon Theremin (go figure), the eerie sounding machine has made its way into popular music as well, from the Beach Boys to Led Zeppelin. I suppose the most unique thing about it is, you don't touch it when you play it!
