Arboretum Foundation seeks volunteer & special events manager

The Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Volunteer & Special Events Manager. This position requires an energetic person with a positive disposition and strong administrative and interpersonal skills.

Primary Responsibilities: Provides leadership and guidance in the development and evaluation of volunteer programs; coordinates, manages and implements volunteer programs while ensuring compliance with volunteer polices and procedures; communicates with CEO, staff, volunteer and business groups on volunteer projects and needs; develops, coordinates and recruits all volunteers; maintains all volunteer records; coordinates with staff to ensure volunteer opportunities are developed and staff needs are met; facilitates, organizes and provides leadership in all special events assisted by volunteers.

Position Requirements: Strong communication and organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills; experience as a volunteer and a volunteer coordinator; demonstrated knowledge and appreciation of the community and volunteer sector; possess critical thinking, strategic planning and problem solving skills; have knowledge in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Publisher and ideally, experience in Raiser’s Edge and Volgistics.

This position is full time, 40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday; flex schedule may be used for some weekend projects. Full time benefits include sick, vacation, personal and holiday pay and health, vision and dental benefits. Salary DOE. Position reports directly to the CEO.
