Songsalive! workshop Sunday

Come to regular Songsalive! workshops and develop collaborations, meet industry guests, showcase and workshop your music for feedback in a professional and supportive environment.
Songsalive! holds workshops where songwriters gather to share their songs, gain feedback and develop relationships within the songwriting communities we have created around the world. The first half is solely dedicated to an in-the-round workshop where writers present one song each - either on tape, CD or live - followed by a guest speaker/industry discussion in the second half and plenty of time to talk and network.
Our workshops often feature guest speakers representing all facets of the industry from A&R, publishers, successful producers, CD production and distribution execs and, of course, writers and composer who share their ideas, tips & techniques on all aspects of the songwriting craft.
The workshops are open to all songwriters and music composers of all levels and music genres and you don't have to be a Songsalive! member to attend. It is usually best to register your attendance in advance.

With Guest Speaker G.F. Mlely discussing "Writing Songs for Theater - Another Music Industry"

G. F. Mlely is Director of the Pacific Songwriters Workshop. Besides having managed to bring a songwriting workshop into the Hawaii Department of Education as an accredited subject, making it the first nationally in a secondary school, he is an internationally acclaimed pianist and composer, featured in concert, festival, and club venues throughout Europe and the United States. His original choral compositions have premiered in Hawai'i and in Los Angeles.
Threnody, a composition from his critically acclaimed solo piano album Re-Entry was picked for Typewriter Dreams, a New York theater production. His video series, Jazz Piano with G. F. Mlely, ran over 2 years on Olelo Television of Hawai'i. Songs from his catalogue have been produced and recorded by Freddie Hubbard, George Harrison, (guitarist) John Tesh, Phil Perry, and The Cunninghams - the latter on a Grammy nominated album.
Mlely, who writes both words and music, also writes essays on the art, craft, and politics of jazz and songwriting, some published online by JazCraft.net, as well as a full-length book, New Music And The American Christian - A Critical Look. The Dance Of Life, The Dance Of Jazz, his recently completed project, a 2-act music-theater work -"spanning the gap between jazz and theater"- is currently in budget formation. (www.jazcraft.net )
