Following in the footsteps of country music’s most celebrated headliners including superstars Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland and Brad Paisley, today CMT announces that Jason Aldean has been handpicked to lead the tradition into its seventh consecutive year. CMT ON TOUR ‘08: JASON ALDEAN featuring special guests Lady Antebellum kicks off at Western Carolina University on October 8 and continues through November 22.
With stops scheduled in 20 markets across the country, CMT ON TOUR ‘08: JASON ALDEAN includes a number of college towns, whose young crowds make up the majority of Aldean’s wildly passionate fan base. Tickets for the first weekend are on sale August 22 and available at cmtontour.cmt.com or Ticketmaster.com.
Aldean was selected by CMT for his electrifying stage show honed from years of performing live in bars and clubs across the Southeast. He leads the new crop of young country music stars with almost two million albums sold, five consecutive top 10 hits and a trove of accolades and awards.
Aldean is joined by reigning ACM Top New Group Lady Antebellum, whose debut album landed at No. one on the Billboard chart earlier this year.
Additionally, newcomer Eric Durrance (Wind-up Nashville) has been tapped for the opening slot.
“It is such a surreal feeling to look behind the bus and see semi trucks with my name on them,” says Aldean. “Even as this thing grows, our fans are the same young kids that have always come out to the club shows. They come to forget about school or work or whatever and have a good time, so that’s what we are going to give them!”
CMT ON TOUR ‘08: JASON ALDEAN is produced by AEG Live and promoted by Outback Concerts.
