West Ireland based super group The Saw Doctors touch down stateside in preparation for the first date on their US Summer Tour: Thursday, Aug 07, headlining the Lowell Summer Music Series, in Lowell, MA.
Direct from a string of successful UK Festival dates, and a sold-out two day concert event celebrating The Saw Doctors 20th Anniversary in Salthill Park, Galway, the rootsy-rockers kick off their Summer US Tour in Lowell MA and continue on through MA, NY, NH, WI, NJ, VA and OH.
The Saw Doctors are most at home on stage and the tightly routed US tour includes several noteworthy outdoor festival performances; Governors Island New York City, two nights at the Milwaukee Irish Fest, and the Birchmere Bandstand in D.C. The final night of the tour, Sunday, August 24, sees the band wrap up their visit with a headlining performance at the Buffalo Irish Festival in upstate New York.
The award winning Galway band has made more than 55 successful trips to the USA since their first visit in 1991, including the recent March 2008 string of US dates celebrating their rarities release That Takes The Biscuit – 23 Assorted Tracks by The Saw Doctors’ where the band played to sold out crowds from D.C. to Boston including a St Patrick’s Day two-night celebration at NYC’s Nokia Theatre.
Now in their twentieth year as a touring band their career highlights include the 2008 Meteor Irish Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award, three Irish Number One singles, a UK Top Ten album and consistently sold out shows in over 10 different countries including the USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, Holland and the UK. The Saw Doctors revolve around the songwriting partnership of Davy Carton (Vocals) and Leo Moran (Guitars). On stage line-up also includes former Waterboy, Anthony Thistlethwaite (Bass Guitar, Saxophone), Kevin Duffy (Keyboards, Vocals), Eimhin Cradock (Drums, Vocals).
