The Strange Familiar to perform Feb. 10 at Silverlake Lounge

Los Angeles-based THE STRANGE FAMILIAR has announced a show on Tuesday, February 10 at the Silverlake Lounge. The group--singer/songwriter/keyboardist KIRA LEYDEN, guitarist/songwriter JEFF ANDREA and bassist FRANK FREEMAN--play resonant pop rock that’s defined by Kira’s soaring vocals and elegant keyboards, matched with Jeff’s urgent guitar work. They released their debut five-song EP You Can’t Go Back last year and are set to follow it up with a full length shortly.

THE STRANGE FAMILIAR has sold over 50,000 downloads of their debut single “Courage Is…,’” reaching the Top 10 Rock Singles chart on iTunes. They have also gained a strong following online, averaging up to 20,000 plays a day on their MySpace page. Several fan-made YouTube videos featuring the band’s music have a combined total of well over 1,000,000 views. One video featuring the lyrics of “Courage Is…” has over 300,000 views alone--all without a record label or manager.
