As evidenced by their debut album, there isn’t a musical style that is off-limits to mad rock n’ roll scientists Player/Kommander. Available through iTunes and the band’s official site (and also as an awesome vinyl edition), ‘On the Eve of the Absolute Get Down’ is a down n’ dirty potpourri of styles – just give a listen to the trippy “White-Out of the Mind,” the piano-heavy “You’ve Had Your Fun,” and the lead-off single “Be This Way,” which has been described as a combination of Kings of Leon, the Replacements, and the Bee Gees!
Comprised of singer James Hall (formerly of Mary My Hope), guitarists Jim Troglen and John Fuller, bassist Roman Glick (who is also a member of Jackyl), and drummer Robbie Stephens, Player/Kommander – whose name references both the singer’s pimpin’ stormtrooper boots and the ever-unpredictable Troglen’s telephone alias – originally came together in 2006.
A kick ass live act, the quintet is preparing to storm the world with their all-encompassing rock n’ roll, and a solid step will be playing at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip/January 29th with Fireball Ministry and Chevy Metal. Keep your peepers peeled – Player/Kommander is ‘On the Eve of the Absolute Get Down,’ and will be rocking a town soon near you!
