DeVotchKa announces tour

Slavic/Mariachi flavored rock quartet DeVotchKa have announced a tour that will keep them busy for the first three months of 2009, beginning January 23rd in Philadelphia PA and ending on March 22nd in Cleveland OH.

Supported by former Archers of Loaf frontman Eric Bachmann’s latest project Crooked Fingers, the tour will feature a special stop in San Francisco, where DeVotchKa will perform two nights at the historic Fillmore, accompanied by mind-blowing aerialists the Slavic Sisters, who have augmented the band’s performances in the past.

DeVotchKa’s 2008 Anti- Records debut, A Mad and Faithful Telling, garnered the band some of the most ardent praise of their careers and topped many “Best Of 2008” year-end lists from the world over including the Independent (UK), The National Post (Canada) and the New University (University of California, Irvine), while the Colorado Daily named them on of the top concerts of 2008.

Additionally, 2008 saw the band touring around the world, including a rare festival performance in Moscow. In May, DeVotchKa made their national television debut on the Conan O’Brien show and in October the band’s song “How It Ends” was featured in the Gears of War 2 video game advertising campaign, spawning an online frenzy that included over two million views of the trailer on YouTube and the sale of over 60,000 singles of the song.
