While the U.S. prepares to mourn the death of analog television in its switch to digital on February 17th, JULIEN-K will instead be celebrating with the digital release of its debut single "Kick the Bass" from its appropriately-titled upcoming album Death to Analog on Metropolis Records (album release date: March 10, 2009). As a teaser, the explicit video (which features a cameo by Linkin Park's Chester Bennington) for the single will be exclusively debuted on Playboy.com on February 10th.
A swirling epic of synthpop rock, the commercial release of "Kick the Bass" will kick off fans' hunger who's fervent interest in the band had been piqued by their mainstage performance on the Projekt Revolution Tour (alongside Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday among many others), their supporting slot on the Evanescence or Mindless Self Indulgence tours, and/or their inclusion on the Transformers film soundtrack. With over two years of solid promotion, Julien-K are ready to satiate that need. Purchasers of the digital download will also receive the unreleased non-album track, "Dreamland."
The sexy and libidinous video of bondage with a cannibalistic twist will be offered in two versions for different tastes. The explicit video will be debuted exclusively on February 10th via Playboy.com's 18+ CyberClub site, who will be offering a free three-day trial to coincide with the release (NOTE: age verification is required). The clean version of the video will also be available for broadcast video outlets.
Since Julien-K are excited for the release of their debut album Death to Analog, they have announced a slew of bonus content for those who purchase it. Along with the previously announced companion remix CD Death to Digital (featuring remixes by Paul Oakenfold, She Wants Revenge, and more), ALL purchasers will receive special codes to download exclusive bonus material, including the demo version of "Kick the Bass" and the clean version of the video.
Fans who pre-order the album will receive photo personally autographed by the entire band.
Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck, the two of principles in Julien-K, first broke into the mainstream with their previous band Orgy through the ubuitous smash single, a cover of New Order's "Blue Monday." Joined by drummer Elias Andra and studio collaborator and cohort Brandon Belsky on keyboards and vocals, Julien-K push the boundaries of what traditional electronic music is supposed to be.
Death to Analog was executive produced by Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) and mixed by Tim Palmer (The Cure, HIM, U2) and will be released on Metropolis Records on March 10, 2009.
