New Colin Muroe video is here

Ladies and gentlemen, Marked Music & Rowdy Records in partnership with Sickamore and The Famous Firm are pleased to present the final video from the acclaimed mixtape Colin Munroe is The Unsung Hero (free download: www.onsmash.com/unsunghero) directed by Josh Lyon.

In the red corner: hailing from Toronto, Canada and backed by over 45,000 downloads of his genre crushing mixtape and support from the likes of 88-Keys, Wale and more... please welcome one of 2009’s hottest contenders, the Unsung Hero himself - Colin Munroe!

In the blue corner: hailing from Duluth, Minnesota is the multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning, undisputed heavyweight champion of American folk and singer-songwriters for five decades straight... please welcome the legendary - Bob Dylan!

*DING*

Dylan packs a punch with his masterful guitar work and insightful lyricism. Meanwhile, Munroe bends and shapes the melody with layers of lush atmospheric vocals. The original version, as heard on Dylan’s Bootleg Series, stood out to Munroe as he wandered around town listening to his iPod. Always adding his own harmonies to the tune, Munroe decided to get in the ring with Dylan while staying true to the original.

“Who Killed Davey Moore” tells the story of a professional boxer who died from inoperable brain damage caused by a TKO at Dodger Stadium in 1963. Dylan’s approach to the true event has him taking the perspectives of the referee, the angry crowd, the cigar chomping manager, the gambling man, the boxing writer and Moore’s opponent, Sugar Ramos. Be sure to get those ringside tickets as Colin Munroe hits SXSW!

About the director, Josh Lyon: Josh has been collecting, building and playing with puppets since he was a kid and started making short Monty Python style movies and stop-motion work at age 10 by freeze framing VHS tapes until they snapped. He has since figured out how to animate using other tools and has produced music videos for Entire Cities (The Woods, 2008) and The Gertrudes (Turn Out the Lights, 2009, and animation for Blackbird and the Cedar, 2008). His work can be seen at http://vimeo.com/user750616 and he is also a member of the Apple Crisp Music Video Club (http://www.applecrisp.ca).
