Green Day’s “Know Your Enemy” global premiere demonstrates MTV’s unique international scale and connects fans to the latest and greatest acts on the world music scene. “Know Your Enemy” will premiere on MTV’s on-air and digital assets which number more than 140 windows, including 66 channels and 200 websites in 162 countries. Via VH1 channels, “Know Your Enemy” will air in 134 countries across Latin America, Europe and Asia.

"We love that Green Day has chosen MTV and VH1 as the exclusive outlets to introduce their newest video to their fans around the world," said Van Toffler, President, MTV Networks Music and Logo Group. "We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with the band for years and playing a part in the launch of their latest album is a huge deal for us all."

“The global breadth of MTV’s network is unmatched and makes us uniquely positioned to bring our audiences exclusive access to some of their favorite artists,” said Bruce Gillmer, SVP Talent & Music MTVN International. “Green Day is one of the world’s most successful bands with hard core fans from The US to Japan, and only MTV can connect them on literally hundreds of platforms."

Green Day - vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool - announced their arrival with 1994's Dookie, a dynamic blast of exuberant three-chord punk-pop that spoke to bored teenagers everywhere. The album eventually sold ten-million copies, earned the band their first Grammy Award. Over the years, Green Day continued to top the charts with their subsequent studio albums Insomniac, Nimrod, and Warning while entertaining millions of fans with their frenetic live shows. But it was their landmark 2004 album American Idiot that launched Green Day into the stratosphere. American Idiot debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart. It spawned five hit singles, earned seven Grammy nominations (winning two, including Rock Album of the Year), and raised the bar for modern rock and roll. Green Day will release a new album, 21st Century Breakdown, in May 2009 and launch a world tour.
