Background
This recital version of a new theatre/music piece based on the writings of Emily Dickinson is the creation of Victoria Kirsch, Anne Marie Ketchum, and Linda Kelsey with an NEA Chairman’s Grant. Readings of poems and letters, the piece also features songs by four American composers, including Aaron Copland, Tom Cipullo, and Lori Laitman.


Anne Marie Ketchum has appeared internationally and is well known for her performances of contemporary art music, vocal chamber music, solorecitals, and opera. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Choral Conducting and a Master’s degree in Voice Performance from California State University, Northridge. She is Associate Professor of Music at Pasadena City College, conductor of the Verdi Chorus, and for five years was stage director for the Metropolitan Opera National Council —Western Region Showcase Concerts in Palm Springs.







Victoria Kirsch’s professional schedule includes international performing, work with Los Angeles Opera, and extensive audition playing (Plácido Domingo’s Operalia in 2000 and 2004 and, until 2003, the Metropolitan Opera’s National Council Auditions), among numerous ongoing projects.
