GREATER LA ZOO ASSOCIATION (GLAZA) PRESENTS
"FROM HERE TO MATERNITY,"
A MOTHER'S DAY SALUTE TO MOTHERHOOD IN THE ANIMAL KINGDOM,
AT LOS ANGELES ZOO
Proceeds Support GLAZA's Education and Conservation Programs
Saturday, May 8, 2010, 10:30 am
No two mothers are alike-and that's especially true in the animal kingdom, where some are more "Mommie Dearest" than "Mother Of The Year." In that spirit, the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA), the private, non-profit organization that supports the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, invites you to treat the mother figure in your life to a unique and informative celebration of motherhood on Saturday, May 8, 10:30 a.m., at the Zoo.
"From Here to Maternity" begins with a reception with light refreshments followed by a special presentation from interpretive naturalist and L.A. Zoo Docent Joleen Lutz. The event also features guided tours highlighting the Zoo's favorite animal moms and their offspring.
Proceeds from this humorous salute to Mother Nature's most memorable moms, which is suitable for all ages, support GLAZA's education and conservation programs.
Joleen Lutz is a wildlife rehabilitator and actress who has appeared as an animal expert on The Tonight Show, Animal Planet, and MTV, and has guest-starred on a number of television shows ranging from CSI: Las Vegas and Desperate Housewives to Boston Legal.
This year marks more than four decades of GLAZA's success in supporting the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Garden as an international leader in the conservation of endangered species, a conservation center for wildlife, a major cultural and entertainment resource for the citizens of Los Angeles, and a place of discovery for children of all ages. GLAZA provides funds and other services for Los Angeles Zoo exhibits, conservation, capital projects, education programs, community outreach, research, and more through fund-raising and an endowment, membership, special events and more. GLAZA currently has 67,000 member households, the second largest membership base of a cultural organization in Los Angeles. Many of its nearly 300,000 individual members have sustained their GLAZA support for more than 20 years.
Tickets are $10 for GLAZA members; $15 for non-members; and $5 for children under 12. Space is limited, so reserve tickets now. Call (323) 644-6042 or visit http://www.lazoo.org/mothersday.
