Johnny Mathis and Gary Mule Deer coming to San Manuel

Thursday, June 3, 2010, Johnny Mathis with Special Guest Gary Mule Deer bring stellar music and comedy to San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino. For one night only, the Inland Empire will dance and laugh their way through the evening. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com and the San Manuel Box Office for $40, $50, and $60.

Johnny Mathis
It was in San Francisco that Johnny Mathis learned an appreciation of music from his father. As a child, he proved his passion for music by singing in the church choir, school functions, community events as well as amateur shows in his hometown. In college, a fellow student introduced Mathis to Black Hawk nightclub, where he would eventually find his music manager.
In 1955, Mathis, with the help from his manager, signed with Columbia Records and moved to New York to record his first album in early March 1956. The first album was a collection of jazz oriented renditions of popular standards entitled, "Johnny Mathis: A New Sound In Popular Song". These successes were followed by the monumental single "Chances Are," which became his first #1 hit.

In June of 1957, Mathis appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show where he was introduced to the record buying public and became a national celebrity and household name. He continued to release albums of beautiful, romantic ballads, classic standards and the best songs from Broadway musicals. Mathis has been inducted in to the Grammy Hall of Fame twice, has received three Grammy nominations and celebrated his 50th anniversary as a recording star in 2006.
