Melissa Etheridge on A&E's "Private Sessions" Sunday

Oscar and Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter Melissa Etheridge joins “Private Sessions” for an in-depth interview and performance this Sunday, May 16 at 9AM ET/PT only on A&E. Etheridge discusses her hardships and triumphs with host Lynn Hoffman and performs some of her most well-known songs and a few off her newly released album “Fearless Love.”

Etheridge began her solo music career by playing in small bars around Los Angeles to a dedicated fan base. When her demo landed in the right hands her career quickly took off and Etheridge became known as one of the most popular recording artist of the 1990s. She won two Grammy Awards in two years and an Oscar for writing the anthem “I Need to Wake Up,” for the global warming documentary An Inconvenient Truth, in 2007.

Etheridge will open up to Hoffman about her battle with cancer, and the satisfaction of seeing Stevie Wonder rocking out during her memorable 2005 Grammy performance, as well as answer surprise questions from Kathy Griffin and Cyndi Lauper. Etheridge will perform one-of-a-kind extended versions of “Come To My Window,” “I’m the Only One,” “If I Wanted To,” and two new releases; “Fearless Love,” and “The Wanting of You.”

Filmed in a small, intimate studio in New York City, “Private Sessions” showcases exclusive performances and conversations with top names in entertainment with a focus on contemporary music ranging from rock ‘n’ roll to pop to country. Each Sunday morning “Private Sessions” explores the body of work of a single artists or group and feature current releases as well as career-building, influential or defining projects.
