Putumayo World Music releases "South Africa" and launches vacation contest

Today, Putumayo World Music is releasing South Africa, a celebration of the musical diversity of South Africa. This new album couldn’t come at a better time with South Africa on the international stage this year as the host of the World Cup this June/July. Along with this new album, we are also hosting a contest to win a trip to South Africa!!

South Africa features a diverse mix of African styles from Afrojazz and township jive to Mbaqanga and Afropop. I thought there might be interest on your part if you have anything planned or would like to make note of South Africa and the World Cup this year. The album features recognizable stars such as Miriam Makeba and the Soweto Gospel Choir, along with up-and-coming talents like Blk Sonshine, Phinda and Zoro. A portion of Putumayo’s proceeds from the sale of this CD will be donated to Artists for a New South Africa (ANSA), a non-profit organization working in South Africa to combat HIV/AIDS and advance human rights.

We are also running a seven week long US/Canada contest (to be entered between May 18th until July 11th) to send 2 people to South Africa (trip includes round-trip airfares, 13-day, 12-night accommodations.) The link for the contest is: http://www.putumayo.com/southafricatour/.
