Sean Hoffman (American Music Club, Bedroom Walls) and sultry chanteuse Leyla Akdogan are Loch & Key. The band was conceived while passing time in a laundromat in the south of France, and the first song was penned on a poorly intonated Spanish guitar purchased from a beach front shop somewhere on the coast of Catalonia. Despite their European origins, Loch & Key are emphatically also of Los Angeles. Their debut record Jupiter’s Guide for Submariners was recorded entirely in Hoffman’s Echo Park studio, and two tracks in particular - “Mt. Washington” and “The Town of the Queen of the Angels” - were written for the city.

As Hoffman explains "It’s a town we want to champion and celebrate. When you arrive in LA, no one is waiting to hand you the key to the city. There are many hidden corners in this town and she doesn’t give up her secrets easily. We enjoy the natural beauty of this ‘tiny parcel’ and the endless adventures and mysteries we find here”.
