Tribes to release album and tour

Universally acclaimed UK rockers TRIBES will storm the U.S. on March 13, 2012 with the release of their full-length debut, Baby, in stores and online via Fairfax Recordings/Universal Republic Records. The band will also take their raw live performance across the U.S. for the first time, beginning on March 4 in Vail, CO., through Austin’s SXSW Festival and ending March 27 in Philadelphia, PA.



However, these 21st century alternative rock architects are no strangers to the States. NME has sung their praises as "the best American band in Britain" while their fall American tour dates turned heads across the board with tastemakers such as Nylon Magazine declaring, “This Camden four-piece is breaking out in a big way…we can’t get enough!” Q Magazine recently stated, “…by the sound of this debut, their hearts lay several thousand miles due West. The early 90s alt-rock of the likes of Nirvana, Mudhoney, The Lemonheads and Pixies loom larege over ‘Baby.’”



Like an intense intermingling of The Pixies and The Libertines, Baby could've been born during the legendary early '90s alternative explosion of Surfer Rosa and Sonic Youth's Dirty, but the album is utterly daring and diverse in its own right.



First single "We Were Children" skates from a dreamy hum of guitars into a resounding refrain that's invigorating and infectious. "When My Day Comes" taps into propulsive post punk power fueled by a colorful chorus and airtight beat. On the other end of the spectrum, "Himalaya" is elegantly haunting as sparse drums and singer Johnny Lloyd's inimitable howl entwine, while "Halfway Home" is a spacey breakup lullaby. Think of them as the alternative to "alternative".



TRIBES is currently on the NME Tour with Two Door Cinema Club, Metronomy and Azealia Banks in the UK before landing stateside.



Baby is the start of a U.S. revolution by a bunch of British lads!
