Matt Toka to perform at Warped Tour kickoff in LA March 29

VANS WARPED TOUR® is set to launch the 18th annual nationwide tour on June 16 in Salt Lake City, UT and it will cross 41 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada, wrapping-up August 5 in Portland, OR. Visit www.vanswarpedtour.com for dates.

The tour has announced their annual kick-off party will return to downtown Los Angeles this year. The launch festivities will take place Thursday, March 29 at Club Nokia and feature live performances from an eclectic array of artists including rockers Falling In Reverse--who are already garnering major airplay from KROQ (LA)-and pop/punk artist Matt Toka, as well as a special record release celebration and performance by Dead Sara, followed by two iconic surprise guests, to be revealed the night of the show. Kick-off party attendees will also be treated to a special screening of the documentary film titled No Room For Rockstars (from Stacy Peralta and the producers of Dogtown & Z-boys) before the party and concert begins. The live music will be kicked off by a set from Forever Came Calling, the group featured in the documentary, which will be available on iTunes April 2 and on DVD May 15. Visit www.noroomforrockstars.com for more info. Tickets for the annual kick off party and concert will go fast at the fan-friendly price of $12.00, which includes the film premiere. Tickets are on-sale NOW (Saturday, February 18): http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/2C00484DEACB6A9D

Matt Toka, a native of Youngstown, OH, has been generating a buzz for his punky/poppy melodic songs that reflect a brutally honest lyrical perspective fueled by his personal classic, all-American dysfunctional family experience.

Apart from the aforementioned single tracks, his YouTube videos have virally spread like brushfire. Videos for "666" and "Ode to My Family", have rallied an ever-growing peer audience along with his own homemade clips which are equally compelling. His aggressive, punk-inspired cover of Adele's "Someone Like You," his take on Coldplay's "Paradise," and a newly filmed frantic live version of "Say10" have racked up views in excess of 300,000 and counting in 2012 alone.

Inspired by the storytelling of Bob Dylan, Noel Gallagher, and Billie Joe Armstrong, Toka locked himself in his one-room studio apartment to write the songs on his upcoming debut album, which he is currently recording with his idol, producer Rob Cavallo. Toka is the perfect act for the Vans warped tour:

"Matt Toka engages the crowd like a caged animal, pacing from either side of the stage, ensuring that his message is heard loud and clear," wrote SoCalMusic.com of one of Toka's club shows. Matt is stoked to be on the tour this summer and wants fans to know: "I can't wait to rape the ears off America's youth this summer on the Van's warped tour. See you out there!"

Since December, the VANS WARPED TOUR has been revealing artists playing the 2012 tour every Wednesday on www.vanswarpedtour.com, gradually building to the main stage headlining line-up announcement, which will begin on March 14. As of today, 57 bands have been revealed so far; see the current band list and tour dates at: www.vanswarpedtour.com. Tickets for VANS WARPED TOUR 2012 will officially go on-sale via a pre-sale beginning Friday, March 30.
