“Premio Lo Nuestro” 2012 to air LIVE From the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, from 7 p.m. -11 p.m. ET
Univision Network today announced the additional list of megastar acts that will join the already powerhouse roster of this year’s highly anticipated “Premio Lo Nuestro” 2012 Latin Music Awards.
The performers that will join the stellar lineup of entertainers include the renowned Mexican singer and this year’s “Premio Lo Nuestro Excellence Award” recipient Pepe Aguilar. Additional artists taking center stage are dynamic duo Chino y Nacho, regional Mexican music star Espinoza Paz, Puerto Rican singer Sie7e, merengue sensation Elvis Crespo, Colombian vallenato group Los del Puenteand celebrated Mexican ensemble band Mariachi Sol de México de José Hernández. Also, in an unprecedented television performance, Latin music pop icon Paulina Rubio will take the stage alongside Espinoza Paz.
For the first time on television, international Italian singer Laura Pausini performs her new single “Jamás Abandoné.” This year’s awards show will up the ante with a special mega production opening number from reggaetón heavy hitter Daddy Yankee, performing his ultra-popular hit “Lovumba.” In a blazing triple threat performance, Juan Magan, El Cata and Pitbull will team up to set the stage on fire singing the chart topping single “Bailando Por El Mundo.”
In addition to honoring the biggest names in Latin music, “Premios Lo Nuestro” 2012 will recognize beloved iconic television personality Mario Kreutzberger aka Don Francisco with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, highlighting his 50 year career and his contributions to the music industry.
The show will turn up its star power with special guest presenters including worldwide Spanish pop extraordinaire Enrique Iglesias. The A-List names of presenters also joining the night are Aarón Díaz, Alicia Machado, Banda Los Recoditos, Beatriz Luengo, Blanca Soto, Chiquinquirá Delgado, Christopher Von Uckermann, Danna García, Dulce María, Elizabeth Gutiérrez, Erick Elías, Joey Montana, La Arrolladora Banda El Limón De Rene Camacho, Lena, Lola Ponce, Mayrín Villanueva, Pamela Silva-Conde, Rafael Novoa, Roberto Tapia, Scarlet Ortiz, Tierra Cali and Voz De Mando.
Preceding the award show, “Premio Lo Nuestro” 2012 will pair up music and fashion with an interactive glam-filled red carpet starting at 7 p.m. and hosted by “Primer Impacto” (First Impact) co-host Bárbara Bermudo and “Nuestra Belleza Latina” (Our Latin Beauty) host Giselle Blondet. Fashion guru and “Sal y Pimienta” (Salt and Pepper) host Rodner Figueroa will also be on hand to provide his style commentary on the night’s best and worst dressed celebrities. As previously revealed, the “Premio Lo Nuestro” 2012 Latin Music Awards will be hosted by Mexican beauty Jacqueline Bracamontes and novela heartthrob Eduardo Santamarina. Additional artists already confirmed for this year’s highly awaited evening include multiplatinum bachata sensation Prince Royce, Mexican pop trio Reik, Spanish singer-songwriter Shaila Dúrcal and Mexican music star Gerardo Ortíz. In a remarkable duo act, the legendary Alejandra Guzmán will sing along with Moderatto, and international music phenomenon Pitbull will perform for the first time with American R&B pop star Chris Brown.
The show’s 24th installment will also showcase first-time television single debuts from Larry Hernández, Luis Fonsi, Prince Royce, Reik, Shaila Dúrcal, Tito el Bambino and tejano/norteño genre music group Intocable. The night’s riveting moments will continue as megastar Gloria Trevi world premieres her song, “Gloria,” and beloved “Bachata King” Romeo Santos, debuts his single “Mi Santa.”
“Premio Lo Nuestro” features nominees in 35 categories, representing Latin music’s most popular genres, including pop, tropical, regional Mexican, rock/alternative and urban music. The night reaches an all-time high as winners in the renowned categories are announced: “Artist of the Year,” “Video of the Year,” and “Collaboration of the Year.”
