What a year 2011 was! New festivals, new opportunities, a new Tumbleweed and of course, a new WMA AWARD!
We also recently received the Top 100 cowboy/western albums played by the western music DJs who report to The Western Way magazine in 2011 chart and Blaze Across the West is in the top 10 at #6!
We have so much to celebrate and be thankful for and now, 2012 promises to be just as exciting!
We already have bookings throughout the entire year including the Big Bear Cowboy Gathering in August and our first appearance at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO this coming October!
Some of the appearances we have coming up are:
Coffee Gallery in Altadena, CA on March 17th (Flyer Below)
Mavericks Coffee in Visalia, CA on March 24th
Boulevard Music in Culver City, CA in April
WMAAZC Western Music Festival in Tucson, AZ in April
Calico Ghost Town in May
Wieghorst Western Music Jubilee in El Cajon, CA in June
..And much more!
We also want to be sure and share some news with all of you. Our Guitarist R.J. Mills has moved to the East Coast to pursue a solo career. We are happy for R.J. but we will really miss him. He has been our brother since the beginning of The Tumbling Tumbleweeds and we have many wonderful memories that we will always share with him. It is indeed bittersweet as we head into the busiest and most exciting time of our career so far but we know R.J. is following his dreams and we support him completely and wish him the very best.
Meanwhile, back here at Tumbleweed Ranch the show must go on and we are very excited about our new addition to the group, Guitarist, David Elsenbroich. He's a dynamo!
David started playing guitar at the age of nine in his hometown of Redwood City, California. Though he started with classical guitar, David studied jazz in high school and then went on to receive two degrees in jazz guitar performance from the University of Southern California. It was there that he studied under world-renowned bebop and Western Swing guitarist Bruce Forman of Cow Bop, who first introduced David to the music of Bob Wills.
David was hand selected by Tumbleweed Rob after a phone call to Bruce Forman who recommended David and it was only after an interview and of course, a jam session with R.J. that R.J. himself said, "Yup, he's the right man for the job!" It could only be with R.J.'s blessing that we Tumbleweeds would feel ultimately confident in our choice for R.J.'s replacement so we are indeed proud now to present David as our new member!
Tumbleweed Rob says of David, "Man, he's got skills and loads of style! He's a great guy too and we are really looking forward to turning him loose on our fans. They're gonna love him!"
s we said, 2012 promises to be an exciting year so stay tuned and be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates and photos of our shows, travels and adventures!
Happy trails!
