Aussie BBQ in LA March 11



The Aussie BBQ 2012 enroute to SXSW has returned to LA for the fourth consecutive year introducing some of Australia's finest talents to the USA. Held at The Echo, for the first time there will be two stages including a new patio stage with solo and acoustic acts. The Los Angeles show on Sunday, March 11th kicks off the first of four delicious Aussie BBQs across the USA this March!

Doors open at 12:00pm. Advance tickets are $12 available from at www.attheecho.com or at the door for $15. The last act will perform at 8pm. Be sure to enjoy the free BBQ with vegetarian options and watch the excellent bands below!

BIG SCARY is a boy/girl two-piece from Melbourne, Australia. Releasing a compilation of four seasonally-themed EPs titled The Big Scary Four Seasons in late 2010 (with tracks "Thinking About You" featuring on Grey's Anatomy and "Autumn" used for an AT&T advertising campaign.



After a stunning response from fans and media BUSBY MAROU have had similarly good fortune in the live arena selling out their first ever headline tour and scoring coveted support slots with Birds Of Tokyo, KD Lang, Dolly Parton and Pete Murray.



Hailing from the tight-knit disco and house music scene in Melbourne, Australia CHET FAKER quickly came to everyone's attention when his cover of "No Diggity" hit #1 on the Hype Machine. He is supporting Toro y Moi and Washed Out in 2012, has already sold out shows in Melbourne and Sydney, and is releasing his EP, Thinking in Textures in March.


DZ DEATHRAYS is an Australian indie/thrash/punk two-piece that have been creating a stir on the international scene. They were recently placed at #4 in NME's Top 20 Most Exciting Bands of 2012, and have performed in the UK with Cerebral Ballzy, Wolfgang, as well as toured Australia with Foo Fighters, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Crystal Castles among others.



EMMA LOUISE burst onto the scene in Australia in 2011 with her debut EP Full Hearts and Empty Rooms debuting at number 1 and remaining for 26 weeks in the AIR indie charts. Her songs have been featured on Grey's Anatomy, Revenge, MTV's Awkward and ABC's The Slap.


GOLD FIELD's frantic dance-pop and anthemic jams have seen them become national youth radio station Triple J's most-played new local band of 2011, and their live shows have won rave reviews for being a high-energy combo of pounding drums, rhythmic basslines and flailing dance moves.



JORDIE LANE is at once, the leading light of Australia's alt-country scene, and a rising star of Americana music worldwide. Lane has opened for The Moody Blues, Old Crow Medicine Show, Neko Case, Cat Power, Loudon Wainwright III, and Gotye, sold-out national tours, major festival and television appearances.


With impossibly smooth, effortless vocals juxtaposed with an honest, gritty ensemble of beats, bass and keys, LOWRIDER create an immaculate fusion of soul, funk and contemporary pop music which truly transcends time. They've supported acts like Alicia Keys, Lupe Fiasco and John Legend.


Headed by songwriter Alexander Gow, OH MERCY are a young indie pop band with serious talent. Oh Mercy have toured consistently since 2009, performing with Kaiser Chiefs, The Vaccines, Temper Trap & Crowded House.



PETS WITH PETS hold a true testament to the bizarre and ancient nature of Australia. Conceived in 2006 and slowly evolving throughout the last 6 years. Starting as an ambient solo project by Zayd Thring and they slowly adding different instruments and band members like limbs through the years.



TEETH & TONGUE is a one-woman whirlwind in slow motion. Weaving her gently confessional songs around hypnotic drum machine beats, synthesisers, distorted guitars and layered vocal samples, she delivers a live set that remains totally raw and spontaneous despite the gadgetry. She has shared the stage with J Mascis and EMA among others.

Other events include the Aussie BBQ at SXSW celebrating its tenth anniversary on Saturday, March 17th, which is also the biggest line up of Australian talent outside Australia with three stages.
