Fusion Fridays return to Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena May 18

Pacific Asia Museum is pleased to announce its third season of Fusion Fridays, its summer evening series that mixes art in the galleries, interactive experiences, live performances and food and drinks in the courtyard, all within the museum's iconic building.

This year's Fusion Fridays will be May 18, June 15, July 20 and August 17 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and are free to members and $15 for nonmembers. Cocktail or Asian attire is encouraged for this indoor and outdoor event. The evenings also include DJ Yuki spinning in the courtyard, a cash bar, and L.A.'s best food trucks in the parking lot, with special performances and activities each individual evening as listed below.

Pacific Asia Museum has a rich history of bringing people and cultures together in a setting that promotes conversation and cross-cultural understanding. Fusion Fridays takes that mission to a new level, mixing the arts with other media to attract new audiences and increase the museum's visibility throughout the city. Keeping in mind that many people are hindered by traditional museum hours and event formats, Fusion Fridays aims to break down those barriers by keeping the museum doors open until late in the evening, bringing in diverse forms of entertainment and building community partnerships.

Fusion Fridays are sponsored in part by Wells Fargo.

May 18: Kick Off When we say "kick off," we mean it-enjoy high-flying taekwondo demonstrations, real sumo matches by world-champion wrestlers, and martial artists battling supernatural forces in the exhibition Masterpieces of Tsukioka Yoshitoshi!

June 15: Pop Up Pop in for a night of pop culture: explore a mix of classic and contemporary in the exhibition Gajin Fujita: Ukiyo-e in Contemporary Painting, join in a group graffiti art activity, and take the stage in our karaoke lounge.

July 20: Sound Off We're turning up the volume for a night of live music performances, dancing to our favorite Bhangra and Bollywood soundtracks, plus multimedia audio games throughout the galleries.

August 17: Wrap Up
Examine exquisite garments in Kimono in the 20th Century, get a taste of our upcoming Pacific Island textiles exhibition, enjoy a fashion show, and take on our reality-TV-inspired fashion design challenge as we wrap up this season of Fusion Fridays with community partner APEX.
