Indie West Fest is announcing its second year with an expanded, four-day line-up of music, movies, and a new venue – the beautiful Ventura Theater. Headliners for 2012 include X, The Smithereens, and Dengue Fever.
Last year, Indie West Fest debuted as a bold, diverse, and independently-operated alternative to the agendas of other regional festivals. Drawing from national and local talent, Indie West Fest producer Michael Jones keeps the music fan first in mind, and as a result, expanded this year’s event to accommodate genre-targeted concert nights, and explore a new indoor environment with the Ventura Theater.
Thursday, July 26, will feature local bands from the Ventura area, and lineup will be announced soon.
Friday, July 27, includes Dengue Fever, The Ettes, Gypsy Death Star, Pangea, and Massenger. Tickets are $15 presale/$20 at door.
Saturday, July 28, includes The Smithereens, The Muffs, Jetstream, Durango 95 (all original members), and Whiskey Glass Eye. Tickets are $20 presale/$25 at door.
Saturday also features a special free screening of the award-winning documentary “Color Me Obsessed” about the legendary Minneapolis indie rockers The Replacements.
Sunday, July 29, includes X (celebrating 35 years of the original lineup), Jackass, Old Man Markley, The Pullmen, and La Vonettes. Tickets are /$35 presale/$40 at door/$50 for the VIP Pit Pass.
Sunday also features a special free screening of the award-winning documentary “Bob and the Monster” and a Q&A with its subject, indie rock hero and drug counselor Bob Forrest and filmmaker Kierda Bahurth.
Doors for all concert nights open at 7pm and shows start at 8pm. This is a family-friendly, all-ages event. There will be vendors on site for food, beverage (including three full bars), local artisans and businesses.
