Kyler Enlgand releases new album

Kyler England has had an illustrious career as a songwriter and artist, and she is constantly looking for ways to grow - never doing what is expected of her. Over the course of more than a half dozen releases, she has always found ways to evolve and surprise her fans with new sounds.

If England’s lilting voice sounds familiar, it is probably because her songs have appeared in numerous TV shows (Grey’s Anatomy, Vampire Diaries, Private Practice, One Tree Hill, Switched At Birth, Ghost Whisperer, Army Wives) and on film (“The Lucky Ones”) and she has opened for the likes of Sting, Annie Lennox, Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson. In addition, she won the 2011 International Songwriting Competition Electronica category. She has averaged 150+ performances a year, mainly solo acoustic, and also collaborated with various DJs on electronic projects.

In 2009, England took a hiatus from her solo career to focus on her band The Rescues upon being signed to Universal Republic. A relative supergroup of troubadours, the band released the album Let Loose The Horses to rave reviews. After touring with the band, England managed to find some quiet time in January of 2011 and songs started pouring out, eventually culminating in Electric Hum.

Her first solo album in 3 years, Electric Hum marked a departure from traditional singer/songwriter territory and found England experimenting with electronic elements such as programmed drums and synths. This was inspired in part by a desire to explore a different part of her voice, discovered while working with DJs and other electronic artists.

On the new EP The Spare Key Sessions, England reworks several songs from Electric Hum with acoustic arrangements, thickened with a string section. Saying that her favorite kind of songs are “the ones where smart and heart meet... where the lyrics and music are both meaningful and moving,” the new stripped down arrangements draw the listener to the intimate and intelligent lyrics and England’s emotional and bittersweet delivery. The first single, “Take These Things To Heart,” will be featured on an upcoming episode of ABC’s Switched At Birth.

The Spare Key Sessions was released digitally on Tuesday, 5/29 and featured as "New & Noteworthy" on the Singer/Songwriter page on iTunes.
