Miles Davis with Quincy Jones live DVD to be released

Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to announce the March 19 release of Miles Davis with Quincy Jones and the Gil Evans Orchestra Live at Montreux 1991. [Pre-book Order Date February 22, MSRP $14.98 for DVD, $19.98 for Blu-ray].  This concert from July 8, 1991 was the last of Miles Davis’ many appearances at the Montreux Jazz Festival and took place only a few months before his death.  This show was previously available only in theDefinitive Miles Davis at Montreux 10 DVD Boxed Set.

Despite a defiant “never look back” philosophy, Miles was persuaded byQuincy Jones and Claude Nobs (1936-2013) to take part in this tribute to his great friend Gil Evans, who had passed away in 1988. This truly unique concert was an historical event and a musical triumph, thankfully captured here for posterity.

The line-up for this important performance featured Miles Davis(trumpet). Soloists: Kenny Garrett (saxophone) & Wallace Rooney(trumpet, flugelhorn). Quincy Jones conducting the Gil Evans Orchestra and the George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band with the addition of Benny Bailey (trumpet, flugelhorn), Carles Benavent(bass) and Grady Tate (drums).

Miles Davis was a giant of 20th century music and this concert is as much a tribute to him as it is to the late Gil Evans.
