Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute album release

I've had an opportunity to listen to this album and it rocks! I especially enjoyed hearing the Altanta Rhythm Section take on "Call Me The Breeze" in style. Check it out! -M

TRIBUTE TO SOUTHERN ROCK LEGENDS LYNYRD SKYNYRD TO BE RELEASED

Over the years, just about every single classic rock band has had a tribute album assembled in their honor. In Lynyrd Skynyrd’s case however, it is atribute well deserved. ‘All Star Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd’ features covers ofworld-renowned Skynyrd classics performed by the likes of Molly Hatchet with Charlie Daniels (“Free Bird”), Canned Heat (“That Smell”), and Jim Dandy’s Black Oak Arkansas (“What’s Your Name?”). But what is bound to especially catch the attention of Skynyrd fans is a rendition of “Double Trouble,” which features four original Skynyrd members -Artimus Pyle, Ed King, Leslie Hawkins, and Jo Jo Billingsley.

Along with the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd helped create Southern Rock, on the strength of such classic albums as 1973’s ‘Pronounced Leh-NerdSkin-Nerd’ and 1974’s ‘Second Helping,’ which spawned such perennial classic rock radio standards as the aforementioned “Freebird,” as well as “Sweet Home Alabama.” One of the ‘70s top live bands, Skynyrd played alongside the Who and the Rolling Stones, and also became a headliner on their own, resulting in one of the finest live rock albums ever, 1976’s ‘One More from the Road.’ The group suffered a great tragedy in 1977, when the band’s plane crashed while on tour, killing vocalist Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, vocalist Cassie Gaines, and road manager Dean Kilpatrick. After anextended hiatus, Skynyrd reunited (with Van Zant’s younger brother, Johnny, taking his spot) in 1987, and has been a major concert draw ever since.
