Carrie Underwood adds tour dates

The reigning ACM and CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, 2x Grammy winner, and 2x 2008 Grammy nominee Carrie Underwood has just announced a headline concert tour with 30-plus shows that will launch in February 2008, the “Carnival Ride Tour.” Joining her as special guest is Josh Turner. As announced previously, Underwood will also co-headline dates with Keith Urban on the “Love, Pain & the whole crazy Carnival Ride Tour,” which kicks off January 31, 2008.

“I’m so excited to be hitting the road and doing the full show of my music that I have always dreamt of doing,” says Underwood. “I have been so fortunate to learn from so many other great artists while touring with them, and they have inspired me in so many ways. They have helped me to get to this stage of my first real headline shows, and now I finally feel ready. I can’t wait to travel throughout the U.S. and Canada and see all my fans.”

Underwood’s current album Carnival Ride has reached double-platinum selling status and contains the 3-week #1 smash “So Small.” She wrapped 2007 as Billboard’s Top Country Artist and Top Country Artist – Female (both based on sales and airplay) and #1 among Top Country Album Artists (based on sales). Outside the country categories, Underwood’s success has transcended to the all-genre Billboard 200 Artist Recap as the #1 best-selling female artist of the 2007 chart year. Her debut album, Some Hearts, has sold in excess of 6.1 million copies and still climbing, and became the best-selling female country debut in history. No album – in any genre – to release since Some Hearts (on November 15, 2005) has surpassed the disc’s powerhouse sales to date. On the airplay front, the 2007 Year in Music recap from R&R reflects the strength of Underwood’s support at country radio, where she was the year’s #1 female artist.

Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum recording artist Josh Turner burst onto the scene in 2003 with his debut album Long Black Train, selling more than a million copies. His follow up disc, Your Man, has sold more than double that amount establishing Turner as one of the fastest rising stars in country music today. His distinctive voice paired with his inspired songwriting makes him one of Nashville’s most notable traditionalists. Turner’s latest album, Everything Is Fine, was certified gold in five weeks and is powered by the fastest-rising single of his career the self-penned “Firecracker.” For more information, please visit www.joshturner.com.
