The Matinee Club
So yeah, she's hot... and British. Oh, and she's a tv star too (if you watch BBC, you might recognize frontwoman Emma Cooke from The Eastenders or from the series Sex, Chips and Rock N' Roll), but her musical career is far more impressive. The Modern, the band’s debut album, is a great example of the band’s perfect fusion of indie, electro and pop, with a nod to influences as diverse as Blondie, Duran Duran, The Cure and Kraftwerk. 1940’s styled blonde-bombshell and ever-omnipresent front woman Emma compliments the rippling synths with her rich, dramatic vocals, which build to the catchy climactic chorus. Matinee Club conjure images of faded glamour and the city’s seedy underbelly.
