Koch Records' artists are coming out with new efforts and hitting the road, here's a sampling:

NEW RELEASES:
Simone Simone On Simone
Release Date: May 13, 2008
Simone is her own woman, a singer, songwriter and performer whose ability to transcend genres echoes the tradition of her mother, musical icon and pioneer—Nina Simone. Blessed with a rich vocal range, an innate skill for lyrical interpretation and a soul-deep understanding of music as a means of healing, empowerment and celebration, Simone is very much her mother’s daughter. But she’s also most assuredly a multi-talented artist in her own right, a highly-praised live performer whose impressive resume includes starring roles on Broadway in such acclaimed musicals as Rent and Aida. Her dramatic and soulful style encompasses jazz, funk, and R&B, and her stage presence says nothing but: “Star.” With the upcoming release of her first full-length album, Simone On Simone (a big band tribute to her mother produced by Grammy-winning jazz musician and arranger Bob Belden), music lovers worldwide will discover the vocal dynamism that live audiences have witnessed for over a decade.

Jesse Cook Frontiers
Release Date: March 18, 2008
Jesse Cook is a virtuoso guitarist who has explored the outer limits of popular music, breaking new ground with each successive recording. Cook blends African percussion, Cajun accordion, classical cello and pop vocals with his own rumba flamenco style to create a thrilling, multi-textured global hybrid.
For Frontiers, his sixth studio album, the Paris-born, Toronto-based musician moved to Seville, Spain – “the source, the Mecca of flamenco music,” he calls it – to absorb the influences.
Cook wrote frontiers while awaiting the birth of his first child Lucas. That sense of anticipation translated into Cook’s most personal album yet.

Steve Tyrell Back to Bacharach
Release Date: April 15, 2008
Steve Tyrell, whose appearances in the two “Father of the Bride” movies, and whose albums A New Standard and Standard Time established him as a premier contemporary interpreter of the Great American Songbook, now turns his attention to one of the legendary composers in all of pop music: Burt Bacharach.
One can only categorize Tyrell’s performances on Back To Bacharach as definitive. His supporting cast includes the top session players on two coasts, as well as guest collaborators Herb Alpert, Patti Austin, Dionne Warwick, James Taylor, Rod Stewart, and Martina McBride. Steve’s own singular vocal style, drenched in the Texas tones of his sophisticated R&B approach, is perfectly suited to these great hits. He sings the songs exactly the way everyone wants to hear them. To top it all of, Maestro Bacharach himself appears on three tracks as a performer and two as co-producer.
Steve Tyrell’s Back To Bacharach makes the case for adding Burt Bacharach to the roster of all-time great creators of the previous generation of American Songbook immortals---Porter, Gershwin, Berlin, Kern, and Ellington. And it does so with supreme style, taste, and expertise.

Grammy nominated guitarist Earl Klugh has released several albums under KOCH and now is back with a brand new offering. The Spice of Life takes us back to that classic sound which reminds the listener why the Boston Globe called him “one of the most highly esteemed jazz guitarists in the world.” Aided by silk-smooth arrangements, courtesy of three-time Grammy winner Don Sebesky, Earl sails through a collection of originals, standards (“C’est Si Bon,” “My Foolish Heart”), and even a Thelonious Monk tune (“Bye Ya.”) The sound is absolutely true to the Earl Klugh style: timeless, positive, and still fresh, with pristine studio sound.

Nick Colionne No Limits
Release Date: Early Summer 2008
Nick Colionne’s unique blend of jazz, funk, R&B and a touch of the blues combined with his rich singing voice and engaging stage personality make him a constant crowd favorite. His album Just Come On In (2003) sent him to the top of the charts with the mega-hit “High Flyin” when it went top 10 for the year on the R&R charts.
Colionne titled his new album No Limits to describe where he is at in terms of his music saying “the project No Limits is my latest adventure. I call it an adventure because I wanted to explore doing some different things with my music and not limit myself to one genre or style of playing.” Colionne teamed up with two Grammy-award winning writers Jim Peterik who wrote the theme from the film Rocky The Eye of The Tiger, and Paul Richmond who wrote Shining Star for The Manhattans.

Ringo Starr The 5.1 Collection
Release Date: IN STORES NOW!!!
Former Beatle Ringo Starr handpicked the best tracks from the master recordings of his previous two solo albums, Ringo Rama and Choose Love, and the new 5.1 channel mixes were created under his personal supervision.
Ringo Rama is a grown-up thrill ride that lovingly, and at times movingly, celebrates the music of yesterday and today. The spontaneous, positive spirit at the heart of Starr’s work since his days with the Beatles is very much evident on this album.
Choose Love is full of inspired songs of heartfelt and heartening experience— performed by great musicians all enjoying making great music together. This is rousing, rough and ready rock & roll that lovingly embraces the past, but has its eye very much on our shared future. And it’s an album first and foremost about the best choice any of us have— Love.

SPOTLIGHT RELEASE:
Vinicius Cantuaria Cymbals
IN STORES NOW
As singer, songwriter, guitarist and percussionist, Vinicius Cantuaria connects several zones of Brazilian music. And though his music is known for it’s decidedly twenty-first century feel, Cantuária’s music might best be described as “post-electronica acoustic.” Cantuária’s albums, always critics’ favorites, have featured collaborations with some of the starrier names in left-field commercial music: Laurie Anderson, David Byrne, Brian Eno, Bill Frisell, and Arto Lindsay. The end-result is always tuneful, light, fleet and musical.
“…the guitarist and singer Vinicius Cantuaria is making a kind of theoretically perfect modern bossa nova.”-The New York Times
