The Virginia City Revival bring their call for peace, imagination and cruelty-free water to Mr. T’s Bowl (5621 1/2 Figueroa St., Los Angeles, California 90042) on Saturday, April 5th at Midnight. Led by Rev. Josey DeVille, The Virginia City Revival has settled in Los Angeles to open the city’s first congregation of the Dawn of the White Light Ministries. Using the sounds and instruments of the heathen rock ’n roll music scene, the sodium-bicarbonate-enlightened group come to heal the wounded ears of hipsters damaged by the forces of mediocrity.
Espousing the wisdom detailed in their debut album A Bandin’ The Herd, available now on Dawn of the White Light Records, The Virginia City Revival light the path to salvation – asking converts to unleash their white hot souls. The 15-track collection of sermons, hymns and radical-free beats, is a mind-opening exploration of the state of mind – that of “The King of Weed,” “Cheatin’,” “Addicted,” and “Mexican Newscaster” starved “Devil’s Friend.”
With America nearing the end of days, The Virginia City Revival has already prepared the message for next week. Busting the doors to the Oval Office wide open, the group details the fable of President Bush’s forbidden love for a woman named “Congo Lisa” in the single and video of the same name. “Congo Lisa” is the first tale in a batch of songs bidding farewell to the Commander In Chief, due in stores later this year. With a global premiere during MTV’s “Jackassworld: 24 Hour Takeover,” the video for “Congo Lisa” has become a YouTube sensation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDlVB09F78k).
Dawn of the White Light Ministries’ services isn’t like your grandma’s Sunday prayer group and The Virginia City Revival, well, let’s just say they’ll charm the snake out of you. Come see what the cracked-open heaven hath brought at Mr.T’s Bowl (5621 1/2 Figueroa St., Los Angeles, California 90042). The congregation requires a $10 tiding for admission; of course more is always accepted with open palms.
