SWAROVSKI STYLE ROCKS: THE SHOW
This year’s Swarovski Style Rocks, as always the hottest ticket in town, turned out to be more brilliantly glittering and star-studded than ever. There was a palpable buzz of excitement and anticipation, as the presenters, Hollywood giants, Uma Thurman, in a sheer black crystal strewn Valentino gown, and Samuel L. Jackson, who was to change designer outfits throughout the show, appeared high up on a theatrical crystal balcony, ready to host the evening’s breathtaking line up of top music talent paired with the most illustrious fashion names on the planet.
There were even more secrets and surprises in store throughout the dazzling evening. Guest presenters included Naomi Watts, Claudia Schiffer, and Dame Edna Everage who held court at The Royal Albert Hall in her inimitable fashion, and praised the work of The Prince’s Trust. Oscar winner and Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow appeared on stage to surprise the famed couturier Valentino with a lifetime achievement award celebrating his forty-five years in the spotlight of fashion. The award was a giant crystal engraved with the words ‘Swarovski Style Rocks Lifetime Achievement Award’.
The stature of the event was confirmed by the presence, on stage of fashion’s brightest stars, including Giorgio Armani himself and Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Music legend, Whitney Houston, whose presence had been kept a closely guarded secret, made a spectacular entrance, to introduce the finale, dedicated to Swarovski, in which the Sugababes, surrounded by crystal-smothered dancers, performed in a special stage set scintillating with Swarovski crystals.
The glorious evening was crowned with a surprise guest appearance by Patti Labelle, joining the Sugababes to sing Lady Marmalade from Moulin Rouge.
The stars and celebrities were out in force for this glamorous event, helping to support the valuable work of The Prince’s Trust in rehabilitating and nurturing young disadvantaged people in the UK. On the sparkling red carpet were Heather Graham, Tom Ford, Donatella Versace, Sienna Miller, Naomi Campbell, Princess Beatrice, Elton John. Kate Moss designed a shimmering flapper style crystal encrusted dress in collaboration with Swarovski.
