Jefro releases second effort

Jefro is tired of what he calls “the bullshit and politics that this world keeps bringing down on us.” But instead of complaining about it, this Californian singer-songwriter wants to do something about it.

No More War is Jefro’s second album. It is his testament to what is wrong with the world and what needs to be done. It is a timely record, yet the music itself has a quality that will last beyond these troubled days. “I don’t want to die in a world of war,” sings Jefro on the record’s head-nodding title track. It’s a simple sentiment, but one that resonates.

The fusion of hip hop beats and rock guitars is testament to a mixed and eclectic musical upbringing which reflects the diversity of Jefro as an artist. Growing up in 1970s, Californian, Jeff Ertassi was surrounded by musical innovation wherever he turned. It was no surprise that he came to make music himself. He began playin at the age of seven and was writing music by 15, inspired chiefly by his heroes Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Having put his musical ambitions on hold, Jeff returned to the scene as Jefro in recent years, more mature and rounded as both a person and artist. He released a debut record Final Call by Jefro in 2004, which announced his music to the world. However, it is with this new offering that Jefro has truly come into his own.

No More War manages to be at once abrasive and radio friendly. It makes the listener sit up and take notice, but it is still tied to the sensibilities of pop. This is how and why the world will begin to hear Jefro’s music. And his message.

He says he wants to make music about real people and real events, and for people to relate to them. One listen to the stark but necessary message of these songs and there’s no doubt that that is exactly what people will do. Jefro is saying it like it is, and the world is listening.

Jefro’s No More War is available to buy Canadian American Records through CDbaby.com, orchard.com, rhapsody and all other major digital outlets.
