Acclaimed Brazilian singer and lyricist Kátia Moraes began her career in Rio de Janeiro in the 1980s with her energetic band O Espírito da Coisa. Since then, she has performed and/or recorded with top Brazilian acts, including Sérgio Mendes, Airto Moreira, Oscar Castro-Neves, Rita Lee, Sandy and Junior, Banda Cheiro de Amor, and George Duke, among many others. Moraes is currently performing and recording a new album with the band Sambaguru, composing new songs for her forthcoming solo album, and performing with the musical act Pure Samba.
