Traditional Irish tunes rendered with affection but not too much reverence. This LA-based quartet doesn’t punk it up like some contemporaries, but throaty vocalist Missy Gibson, multi-instrumentalist Mike Flanagan, guitarist Whitney Lockert and percussionist Damon Pipitone invest 16 drinking songs, reels and romantic laments with straightforward, unaffected energy reflective of the pubs they normally play, thereby sidestepping the mustiness afflicting many Celtic recordings.
