DJ KID GUSTO
Inspired by the wide variety of music he heard around the neighborhoods of Washington, DC, Kid Gusto began studying music in the 1980s. By the late 90s, he had added DJing and production to his already wide repertoire and in short time secured residencies in Las Vegas, Orlando and Washington, DC. In 2007, he released KG Originals, his first full length album. The LP received universal acclaim with both critics and fans alike. Since then, he has moved to LA and continues to follow the same philosophy he first learned as a musician coming up in DC. Whether slow or fast, whether rock or soul, any song he plays or makes has, in the words of James Brown, "got to be funky."

ASA "ASSETS" LISTENING PARTY
9 to 10pm w/ giveaways!
The debut album of culturally conscious singer-songwriter Asa (pronounced Ah-shah) paints a vivid landscape rich in history and deep in its influences. Born in Paris but transplanted to Nigeria where she would spend the remainder of her childhood and adolescence, Asa returned to her birthplace in 2004 and immersed herself in the music of the city. The result is a collection of provocative and savvy songs that are as strikingly personal as they are collectively universal. The debut, simply titled Asa, will be released on Downtown Records’ new imprint Mercer St. Records in early 2009. The label, Mercer Street, was created as a vibrant outlet for eclectic adult-oriented and world music artists. www.downtownrecordings.com

BOOZOO BAJOU
After 10 years of forward-thinking musical fusion, Boozoo Bajou return with their most seductive and sophisticated album yet, ‘Grains’. The producers Florian Seyberth and Peter Heider are already widely respected around the globe for their unique blend of modern electronica with blues, jazz, soul, latin and dub elements. But on ‘Grains’, the Nuremberg duo take a lighter and brighter path, absorbing acoustic folk and classic songwriting into their progressive musical journey.

Boozoo Bajou earned global attention with their irresistible breakthrough single ‘Night Over Manaus’ in 1998, their 2001 debut album ‘Satta’ and its 2005 sequel ‘Dust My Broom’. They also demonstrated their excellent and wide-ranging musical taste on two excellent mix compilations, ‘Juke Joint’ and ‘Juke Joint II’.

In addition, Florian and Peter have remixed and collaborated with a wide range of major artists. These include hip-hop superstar Common, Joe Dukie from New Zealand dub-rock collective Fat Freddy’s Drop, rapper Oh No from the Stones Throw camp, former Motown writer-producer and blaxploitation soundtrack legend Willie Hutch, and the veteran Louisiana singer-songwriter Tony Joe White, author of the all-time classic ‘Rainy Night In Georgia’.

Both inside and out, ‘Grains’ is an intoxicating mix of past, present and future. A folk songbook for the 21st century. A soulful statement for today. Boozoo Bajou have made their finest album to date.
