End o' week musings

Great, worried and better are the words for this week....

I left you when I was going to help out with McGinty's Gallery at the End of the World's (http://www.galleryattheendoftheworld.com/ ) float for the 32nd Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade (http://www.pasadenadoodahparade.info/ ) Saturday. I helped paint, but left the cutting out parts to the artists. The float is looking good and really got me in the Doo Dah mood.

Saturday evening I went to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium to see the Chinese New Year Spectacular. Wow! It was great! The costumes were beautiful, the music was moving and the dancing was terrific. I really enjoyed the show... I especially liked the fan dancing and the sleeve dancing (although I would have liked to have seen more of the long sleeves).

Sunday I did errands and then picked up Tequila Mockingbird for our rehearsal with Andrew's Bad Stuff for the Pre Doo Dah Party. I sooo dig Tequila, she's a lot of fun. We both practiced our tunes and gave the guys a bad time. I think having the two of us together may not have been such a good idea for the band because we're trouble ha ha!

The remainder of my week wasn't quite as exciting, more day to day grindy stuff. I was feeling icky on Wednesday and ended up having to stay home in bed yesterday to fight off a sore throat and cold. It was just the right thing too, as I'm feeling much better today and it seems that my voice should be fine for tomorrow's show.

Tonight I am going to First Cabin in Arcadia to check out the scene for a story. I understand that Pat O'Brien and the Priests of Love play there regularly and are quite a good blues band. I'll have to let you know what I think...

Tomorrow I will be going to the gallery again in the morning to help out some more with the float. I hear it is looking even more impressive than last week due to the creativity and work of Dave Lovejoy (http://www.lovejoyart.com/ ) ! Then I'll head home and get glammed up with the help of my friend Angela. If you want to see - and hear - the results, here's the skinny:

Next week is going to be crazy! I will be at the NAMM show (a huge music convention for those unfamiliar) on Thursday and Friday. Saturday is my brother's impending doom... I mean, wedding and Sunday will be Doo Dah all day. I think I'm going to spend this Sunday getting some rest and doing laundry....

Photos we got 'em: Just a couple of pet pics that caught my eye.

In rotation this week: Horrorpops, Britney Spears, Fall From Grace and a blues compilation. Not much, as I've had to practice my vocals this week...

Thought of the week: Take care of yourself first. It's true. If you don't take care of yourself you're no good to anyone else. Sure, I spent one whole day lounging in bed, but I needed it. Now I'm back at work, ready for my gig and have no qualms about next week's adventures. And you know that I absolutely HATE sitting still so it's really tough for me to be sick and/or quiet. But I also know my body and that if I can get one day of rest I'm usually good to go... Stay healthy and

Keep on rockin'
Mickie
