Little Brazil to tour in support of new effort

Omaha’s indie rock purveyors LITTLE BRAZIL have set a March 24th release date for their third album (and first for Anodyne Records), simply titled SON. Recorded at ARC Studios in Omaha with AJ Mogis (Cursive, Bright Eyes, The Faint, Tilly & The Wall, Rilo Kiley), Son boasts ten deep, layered narratives that tackle topics such as divorce, adultery, custody battles, parental alienation, abandonment, suicide, and the search of self-affirmation told from a child’s perspective.

“Son is a ten-song book - half fiction, half non-fiction,” states vocalist/ songwriter/ guitarist Landon Hedges. “The album is a story loosely based on a man and woman who meet, marry, struggle, fight, have a son, resulting in divorce and a custody battle. In the end, the wife commits suicide… but I don’t want to give it all away.”

Hedges continues, “The album is filled with topics that I feel many people have to deal with in life. Some of the story line is personal, as I was dealing with almost losing a close family member to cancer, but I focused on telling a story with this album, and although it was tough to tackle, we are all very proud of the end result.”

Building anticipation for the release, Little Brazil stopped by the Futureappletree studio last fall to record three new cuts for Daytrotter.com. Fans can check out the exclusive performances here: http://www.daytrotter.com/article/1457/little-brazil

Anxious fans on the West Coast will be happy to hear that Little Brazil will hit the highway on a four-week tour which include dates with Cursive and Ladyfinger(ne) (tour dates below). In the past, Little Brazil has shared the stage with many indie vets, such as Tegan & Sara, Nada Surf, The Appleseed Cast, The Go! Team, Grant Hart (Husker Du), Tapes N' Tapes ,and Black Kids, to name a few.

After playing guitar in Conor Oberst’s Desaparacidos, and Tim Kasher’s The Good Life, Hedges founded Little Brazil in 2002, and solidified the line up in 2004, joined by guitarist Greg Edds, bassist Danny Maxwell, and drummer Oliver Morgan.
