The new Army of Me release called “Make Yourself Naked EP” is due out on Oct. 27.
Call it a comeback. Call it a reinvention. Call it a snapshot. Whatever you call it, Army of Me’s new EP “Make Yourself Naked” finds singer Vince Scheuerman in new surroundings. Their debut record “Citizen” was greeted with predictions of commercial success. Allmusic.com said “it’s pretty easy to the band scoring radio hits and jumping into the mainstream consciousness quickly.” It was a big, bombastic, slickly produced album – without a lot of room for whispering.
You could say that the 5 song “Make Yourself Naked EP” is the musical opposite of “Citizen.” Hoping to capture some sketches for new Army of Me songs, Vince holed up in his bedroom in Washington DC and simply pressed the “record” button on his laptop. What he inadvertently captured was, according to Vince, “an unexpected image of a naked man.” It’s surely a private moment – just like he’s singing in the shower, only you’re invited.
