Corrected dates for Pasadena police chief search sessions

COMMUNITY INVITED TO GIVE INPUT ON PASADENA POLICE CHIEF SEARCH

Pasadena residents, business owners and other stakeholders are invited to provide input on the search for Pasadena’s next police chief during a series of community meetings in November.

City Manager Michael J. Beck, who will make the final selection, encourages Pasadenans to participate by voicing their opinions on the ideal qualities the next police chief should possess and the challenges the chief should be prepared to undertake.

“I value the community’s input as I move forward in making this critical decision,” said Beck.

Meetings are scheduled Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber, room S249 at Pasadena City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave.; Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Center, 1020 N. Fair Oaks Ave.; and Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Victory Park Center, 2575 Paloma St.

Chief Bernard K. Melekian is preparing to begin his new duties as director of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) for the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Deputy Chief Christopher Vicino will serve as interim police chief until the position has been filled.
