This holiday season, Americans canhelp families and children, and contribute to disaster relief aid, without spending a dime. Thanks to the new Membership Drive for Charity announced today by the free online community ValueJockey.com (http://www.ValueJockey.com), The Salvation Army (http://www.SalvationArmyUSA.org/usn/www_usn_2.nsf) will receive up to 50% of everything ValueJockey.com earns through January 15, 2010.
From November 24 to January 15, ValueJockey.com will earmark 1% of its earnings for every 10,000 new members, up to 50%, for The Salvation Army. Membership in the ValueJockey.com community is completely free, and once they have joined, members can give and seek feedback on the value of items they're buying or selling.
"ValueJockey.com is based on the concept of community members helping each other," explained brothers Mark and Scott Lange, founders of ValueJockey.com. "During the holidays this year, we want to give something back to an organization that is so important to communities across America."
Founded earlier this year, ValueJockey.com gives members the chance to list products or services and receive values, pricing suggestions, selling tips and feedback from other ValueJockey.com members. As ValueJockey.com members suggestp rices for an item, the ValueJockey.com system averages all values submitted, giving members a better idea of what their items -- from treasured heirlooms to garage sale finds --are worth.
Participation is encouraged, and members can link to any classified ad or auction such as eBay and Craigslist to gain more exposure for their products and services, though ValueJockey.com has partnered with a variety of reputable classified ad and online auction sites to help members get their items sold.
As an added value, each ValueJockey.com member can publish information about his or her business, hobbies, experience or expertise to the ValueJockey.com ProProfile Page or the Hobby, Collectible & Interests Directory. Both resources are free.
"There is absolutely no risk in becoming part of theValueJockey.com community," said Mark Lange. "Membership is free, and now it can result in real help for a deserving organization. We hope folks will take advantage of this simple way of giving to others during a tough economic time."
